Our Good Deeds are by the Mercy of Allaah Ta’ala

Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah -rahimullaah- said:
َيَجِبُّ أن يَعلَـمَ العَبـدُّ أنَّ عَمَلَـهُ مِن الحَسَنَـاتِ هُـوَ بِفَـضلِ اللَّهِ وَرَحمَتِـه ومِن نِعمَتِـهِ كَمَـا قَـالَ أهـلُ الجَنَّـةِ :
*﴿ الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهتَدِيَّ لَولَا أَن هَـدَانَا اللَّهُ ﴾*
‘It is obligatory upon a slave of Allaah to know that the good deeds which he does are by the virtue of Allaah upon him, with Allaah’s Mercy and from His blessings. Just as the people of Paradise said:
﴿ الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهتَدِيَّ لَولَا أَن هَـدَانَا اللَّهُ ﴾
《All the praises and thanks be to Allaah, Who has guided us to this, never could we have found guidance, were it not that Allaah had guided us!》

قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله:
