From Anas bin Malik –RadhiAllaahu anhu- who said: ‘A group of three people came to the houses of the Prophet’s wives asking about the Prophet’s worship. When they were informed about it, they regarded their own as insignificant and said: ‘Where are we compared to the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam? Indeed Allaah has forgiven him his past and future sins.’
One of them said: As for me then I will pray all night.
The other one said: I will fast continuously and not open my fast.
The last one said: I will keep away from women and never marry.
When the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- came he said:
أنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ قُلتُمْ كَذا وكَذا؟! أَما واللَّهِ إنِّي لَأَخْشاكُمْ لِلَّهِ وأَتْقاكُمْ له، لَكِنِّي أصُومُ وأُفْطِرُ، وأُصَلِّي وأَرْقُدُ، وأَتَزَوَّجُ النِّساءَ، فمَن رَغِبَ عن سُنَّتي فليسَ مِنِّي.
‘Are you those who said such-and-such. Then I swear by Allaah that indeed I am the most fearful of Allaah from among you and the one who has the most Taqwa of Him. However, I fast and open my fast, I pray and I sleep and I marry women. So whosoever does not desire my Sunnah is not of me.’

Propagating the Sunnah
نشر السنة
Shaykh Abdulaziz bin Baz said:
فالعمل على نشر السنة واجب وتعليمها من أفضل القربات وأجل الطاعات .
‘Actively propagating the Sunnah is obligatory. Studying and learning the Sunnah is from the best means of coming closer to Allaah and it is the most magnificent act of obedience.’

Being Steadfast upon the
Sunnah
الثبات على السنة
Shaykh Rabee bin Hadi al-Madkhali said:
‘Indeed being steadfast upon the Sunnah means to be steadfast upon the whole of Islaam, with its principles, branches, beliefs and its methodologies.
We should be steadfast upon Islaam and adhere to it until we meet Allaah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala.
When we say ‘being steadfast upon the Sunnah’ the intent is not only the word ‘Sunnah’ as many of the people understand it to be, indeed the Sunnah here means ‘the creed and methodology’ it means Islaam, meaning ‘being steadfast upon Islaam.’

Spread the Sunnah
جدوا في نشر السنة
Shaykh Ubayd al-Jabari Rahimahullaah said:
‘Be serious and have a concern in spreading the Sunnah and adhere to the Book and the Sunnah in accordance with the path of the Salaf As-Salih (the righteous predecessors).
Hold on to that, and bite onto it with your molar teeth, and also call to the Sunnah with wisdom and good preaching.
And call to aiding its people and adhering to those who are known to spread the Sunnah and aid that and aid the people of Sunnah and defend it and reject Bida (innovation).’

إتباع السنة
عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال:
جاءَ ثَلاثَةُ رَهْطٍ إلى بُيُوتِ أزْواجِ النَّبيِّ ﷺ، يَسْأَلُونَ عن عِبادَةِ النَّبيِّ ﷺ، فَلَمّا أُخْبِرُوا كَأنَّهُمْ تَقالُّوها، فَقالوا: وأَيْنَ نَحْنُ مِنَ النَّبيِّ ﷺ؟! قدْ غُفِرَ له ما تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنْبِهِ وما تَأَخَّرَ، قالَ أحَدُهُمْ: أمّا أنا فإنِّي أُصَلِّي اللَّيْلَ أبَدًا، وقالَ آخَرُ: أنا أصُومُ الدَّهْرَ ولا أُفْطِرُ، وقالَ آخَرُ: أنا أعْتَزِلُ النِّساءَ فلا أتَزَوَّجُ أبَدًا، فَجاءَ رَسولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إليهِم، فَقالَ: أنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ قُلتُمْ كَذا وكَذا؟! أَما واللَّهِ إنِّي لَأَخْشاكُمْ لِلَّهِ وأَتْقاكُمْ له، لَكِنِّي أصُومُ وأُفْطِرُ، وأُصَلِّي وأَرْقُدُ، وأَتَزَوَّجُ النِّساءَ، فمَن رَغِبَ عن سُنَّتي فليسَ مِنِّي.

الثبات على السنة
قال الشيخ ربيع المدخلي
إن الثبات على السنة معناه الثبات على الإسلام بكليته ، أصوله وفروعه عقائده ومناهجه نثبت عليه ونتمسك به حتى نلقى الله تبارك وتعالى ؛ وإذا قلنا الثبات على السنة ليس المراد فقط مايفهمه كثير من الناس من لفظ السنة ، فإن السنة هنا تعني العقيدة والمنهج ، تعني الإسلام ، تعني الثبات على الإسلام .

جدوا في نشر السنة
قال فضيلة الشيخ العلامة عبيد الجابري رحمه الله تعالى :
جدوا في نشر السنة ؛ واعتصموا بالكتاب والسنة وفق سيرة السلف الصالح ،
وشدوا في ذلك ، وعضوا عليها بالنواجذ ، وكذلك ادعوا إلى هذه السنة بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة ، وادعوا إلى مناصرة أهلها ، وملازمة الذين عرفوا بنشر السنة ومناصرتها ومناصرة أهلها ، والذب عنها ودحض البدع.
