No.7 – The Soul of the Prayer
Shaykh AbdurRahman as-Sa’adi -Rahimahullaah- said:
‘Al-Khushoo in the prayer is, the heart being present in front of Allaah
Ta’ala. Bringing to mind that a person is close to Allaah, so his heart is tranquil due to that. His soul becomes calm, his movements become calm and has very little unnecessary movements in the prayer.
He is well-mannered in front of his Lord, he brings to mind everything that he says and does in his prayer, from the beginning of his prayer until the end, with which he negates evil whisperings and wicked thoughts.
This is the soul of the Prayer, and the purpose of it, and that is what is written for the worshipper of Allaah.’

Imam al-Qurtubi -Rahimahullaah- said:
‘When the prayer would be ready and a man from the scholars stood up to pray he would be in great awe of ar-Rahmaan (Allaah) so he would not raise his sight to look at something or that he would speak to himself about something from the worldly matters.’

Shaykh Rabee bin Hadi al-Madkhali said:
‘Strive to have Khushoo in your prayer, to forget the Duniya, to forget wealth and family, to forget everything, nothing remains in your mind except bringing to your attention the greatness of Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.’

وقال ابن سعدي رحمه الله
“الخشوع في الصلاة هو: حضورُ القلبِ بين يديّ اللهِ تعالى، مستحضراً لقربهِ، فيسكنُ لذلك قلبُه، وتطمئنُ نفسُهُ، وتسكنُ حركاتُهُ ويَقِلُّ التفاتُه، متأدباً بين يديّ ربهِ، مستحضراً جميعَ ما يقولُهُ ويفعلُهُ في صلاتِه، من أولِ صلاتِهِ إلى آخرِها، فتنتفي بذلك الوساوسُ والأفكارُ الرديئة.
وهذا روحُ الصلاةِ، والمقصودُ منها، وهو الذي يُكتبُ للعبد”.
في تفسيره ص547:
(7) معرفة أن الخشوعَ هو رُوح الصلاة:
قال الإمام القرطبي – رحمه الله -: كان الرجل من العلماء إذا أقام الصلاة وقام إليها، يهابُ الرحمنَ أن يمد بصره إلى شيءٍ، وأن يحدِّثَ نفسَه بشيءٍ من الدنيا؛ (تفسير القرطبي – جـ 12 – صـ 103).
قـال الـشيخ ربيع الـمدخلي حفظه الله :
فـاحْرِصْ عَلَى أَنْ تَخـْشـَعْ في صَـلاتـِك ،
-أنْ تنْسـَى الـدُّنيـَا
-تَنْسـَى الـمـال والـعِيـَال
-وتَنْسـَى كـل شيء
-وﻻ يبْقـى في ذاكـرَتك إﻻّ اسْتِحْضَـار عَظمَـةِ الله سبحـانه وتعـالى
