Allaah Ta’ala said:
وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ
<<And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khâshi’oon [i.e. the true believers in Allaah >> [Baqarah: 45]
From Ibn Abbas:
إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ
<< except for Al-Khâshi’oon [i.e. the true believers in Allaah >> means those who truly believe in what Allaah revealed.’

From Mujahid bin Jubayr:
إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ
<< except for Al-Khâshi’oon [i.e. the true believers in Allaah >> : True believers.

Ibn Jareer at-Tabari said:
‘What it means by << except for Al-Khâshi’oon [i.e. the true believers in Allaah >> except upon those who humble themselves to His obedience, those who fear His authority and Power, believers in His Promise and threat.’

Ibn Katheer said:
‘Indeed prayer is heavy except for those who are true believers who know that they will be gathered to Allaah on the Day of Judgment, presented to Allaah and all their matters will be under His will, He judges in according to what He wills with justice. This is why when they have certainty in the hereafter and the recompense it becomes easy for them to perform acts of obedience and leave off evils.’

Shaykh Muhammad Nasir uddeen Al-Albaani said:
‘It is upon the Muslims to truly believe in Allaah and His Messenger, however, the Muslims today, are like what Allaah the Lord of all that exists said: <<Most of the people do not know>>.
The Muslims today are Muslim by name and are not true believers, I think that you understand the purpose of this negative meaning here.
However, I will remind you of the saying of Allaah Ta’ala:
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ (1) الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ (2) وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ (3) وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَاةِ فَاعِلُونَ (4) وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ (5) إِلَّا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ (6) فَمَنِ ابْتَغَى وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ
<< Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Salât (prayers) with all humility and full submissiveness. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allaah has forbidden). And those who pay the Zakaat. And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts). Except from their wives or (the captives) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; >>
[al-Muminoon: 1-7]
Meaning unjust, oppressors. So if we only looked at these characteristics and did not transcend these Ayaat, these Ayaat which mention these characteristics.
There are other Ayaat which contain other characteristics and descriptions, which are not mentioned in these Ayaat (of Soorah al-Muminoon) which talk about acting upon Islaam.
So whoever implements these characteristics and other characteristics mentioned in these Ayaat and in others, in that Allaah Ta’ala mentioned about them <<that they are the true believers>>, so the question is, are we true believers?
The answer is, no. Therefore, brothers, do not be deceived or be ignorant and remember so that you know your illness to know your cure.
The Muslims today are not true Muslims because true Eemaan requires acting upon the truth.
So us who pray nowadays, these characteristics <<Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all humility and full submissiveness.>> Are we those who have Khushoo in our prayer?
I am not talking about individuals, two people, five, ten, hundred, two hundred, a thousand, two thousand… no, in fact I am talking about the Muslims at least those who ask about the prayer!
What is the solution for what has afflicted the Muslims? No, I am not talking about those Muslims playing around, Fasiqeen (evil doers), those who do not care about their hereafter, rather what they care about is desires and their stomachs, no, I am talking about the Muslims who pray, so are these people actually worshippers and have these descriptions which are mentioned in the beginning of Sooratul Muminoon?
The answer, as a Jammaha like the Ummah, then no, therefore:
Who hope for success and do not tread its path
Indeed a ship does not move on dry land!!

Shaykh Rabee’ bin Hadi al-Madkhali said:
‘Indeed from the effects of the prayer, which is established as it is legislated, and that which has the necessary sincerity (Ikhlaas), and it is completed with its conditions and its pillars and its humbleness (Khushoo), the result is success, and it is the greatest success which is needed from Allaah.
Allaah Ta’ala said:
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ () الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ () وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ () وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَاةِ فَاعِلُونَ
<< Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Salât (prayers) with all humility and full submissiveness. And those who turn away from evil speech. And those who pay the Zakât . >>
[al-Muminoon: 1-4]
And from the effects of the prayer is that it prevents from great sins and evil wicked deeds and that Allaah mentions you to a higher gathering.
Allaah Ta’ala said:
إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ
<< Verily, As-Salât (the prayer) prevents evil actions and wicked deeds and Allaah remembering you (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering Allaah in prayers]. And Allaah knows what you do.>> [Ankaboot:45]

قال الحافظ بن كثير:
وَقَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {الَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُلاقُو رَبِّهِمْ وَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ} هَذَا مِنْ تَمَامِ الْكَلَامِ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ، أَيْ: وَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ أَوِ الوَصَاة (1) لِثَقِيلَةٌ إلا على الخاشعين الذين يظنون أنهم ملاقو رَبِّهِمْ، أَيْ: [يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ] (2) مَحْشُورُونَ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، مَعْرُوضُونَ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، أَيْ: أُمُورُهُمْ رَاجِعَةٌ إِلَى مَشِيئَتِهِ، يَحْكُمُ فِيهَا مَا يَشَاءُ بِعَدْلِهِ، فَلِهَذَا لَمَّا أَيْقَنُوا بِالْمَعَادِ وَالْجَزَاءِ سَهُل عَلَيْهِمْ فعلُ الطَّاعَاتِ وَتَرْكُ الْمُنْكَرَاتِ.

قال الشيخ الألباني:
المسلمون اليوم ليسوا مؤمنين حقاً؛ لأن الإيمان الحق يتطلب العمل بالحق.
فنحن المصلين اليوم، هذه الخصلة: {قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ * الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ} [المؤمنون: 1 – 2]، هل نحن خاشعون في صلاتنا؟ أنا ما أتكلم عن فرد، اثنين، خمسة، عشرة، مائة، مائتين، ألف، ألفين، لا، بل أتكلم عن المسلمين على الأقل الذين يتساءلون! ما هو الحل لما أصاب المسلمين؟ لا أعني أولئك المسلمين اللاهين الفاسقين، الذين لا يهمهم آخرتهم، وإنما يهمهم شهواتهم وبطونهم، لا، أنا أتكلم عن المسلمين المصلين، فهل هؤلاء المصلون، قد اتصفوا بهذه الصفات المذكورة في أول سورة المؤمنون؟ الجواب: كجماعة كأمة: لا.
إذن:
ترجو النجاة ولم تسلك مسالكها … إن السفينة لا تجري على اليبس

قال ربيع بن هادي عمير المدخلي
إن من آثار الصلاة التي تقام على الوجه المشروع والتي يتوفر فيها الإخلاص وتستكمل فيها شروطها وأركانها وخشوعها الفلاح وهو الفوز بالمطلوب الأعظم عند الله، قال تعالى: ﴿ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَاةِ فَاعِلُونَ ﴾.
ومن آثار هذه الصلاة أنها تنهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر وأن يذكرك الله في الملأ الأعلى، قال تعالى: ﴿ إِنَّ الصَّلاةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ ﴾.
