Fear Allaah as He should be feared
اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِه
Allaah Ta’ala said:
{اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ}
《 Fear Allaah as He should be feared. 》 [ala-Imran: 102]
Abdullaah bin al-Mubarak (d.181 A.H.) said:
Murrah bin Sharhabeel said that Abdullaah bin Mas’ood -RadhiAllaahu anhu- said regarding the Ayaah:
{اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ}
《 Fear Allaah as He should be feared. 》 [ala-Imran: 102]
«حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ أَنْ يُطَاعَ فَلَا يُعْصَى، وَأَنْ يُشْكَرَ فَلَا يُكْفَرَ، وَأَنْ يُذْكَرَ فَلَا يُنْسَى».
‘Fear Allaah as He should be feared, means that Allaah should be obeyed and not disobeyed. He is thanked and not disbelieved in. He is remembered and not forgotten.’
