Proof for the Leadership of Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq
Allaah’s statement:
《 The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your blessings 》
It is not clarified here, who are those who have been blessed, but it is explained in another place by Allaah’s saying:
《 then they will be in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqun (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr As-Siddiq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are! 》 4:69
The correctness of the leadership of Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq -Radi Allaahu anhu- is taken from this noble Ayaah.
This is because he is from among those whom we have been ordered to ask Allaah to guide us to their straight path, as is mentioned in the Saba’ al-Mathani wal Qur’aan al-Atheem -meaning Soorah Fatihah. Whereby we ask Allaah to guide us to their path.
So this shows that their path is the straight path. This is mentioned in the saying of Allaah Ta’ala:
《 The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your blessings, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray. 》
So Allaah clarified, who are those whom Allaah has blessed and He counted the Siddiqun (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them) from among them.
The Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- clarified that Abu Bakr – RadhiAllaahu anhu – is from the Siddiqun (the truthful), so it becomes clear that he enters among those whom Allaah has blessed. Those whom Allaah has ordered us to ask Him for guidance to their straight path.
Then there does not remain any confusion in that Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq -Radi Allaahu anhu- is upon the straight path and that his leadership is true.’
