The First Deception of Iblees
Ibn al-Jawzi (d. 597 A.H.) -rahimahullaah- said:
‘Know that the first deception of Iblees upon the people was to restrain and prevent them from knowledge, because knowledge is Noor (light), so if Iblees extinguishes their lanterns then he causes them to wander around in the dark however he wants.’
[Talbees Iblees 1/389]

Following the Path of the Companions
Allaah Ta’ala said:
{ واتبع سبيل من أناب إلي }
《 and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. 》31:15
Ibn Qayyim -rahimahullaah- said :
‘Every single one from the Companions turned in repentance and obedience to Allaah so it is obligatory to follow their path, their statements and their beliefs.’
[I’laam al-Muwaqaeen 4/120]
He also said about the Companions:
‘The Companions did not differ not even in one issue of Asma (Allaah’s Names, Sifaat (Attributes) and Afa’al (Actions).’
[I’laam al-Muwaqaeen 1/49]
From Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- was asked which of the people are the best?
He -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:
Me and those with me, then those who followed them, then those who followed them.’

The Door of Goodness
Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah -rahimahullaah- said:
The testification of Tawheed opens the door to goodness and Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness) from sins closes the door to evil. [Fatawa 11/256]

Graves & Masajid
Shaykh Muhammad Nasir uddeen Albaani said:
‘The grave and the Masjid do not exist together in Islaam, like one of the senior scholars mentioned, that combining a grave and a Masjid together invalidates Ikhlaas (sincerity) of Tawheed and the worship of Allaah – Tabaraka wa Ta’ala.
The Masajid were built to establish this Ikhlaas (Sincerity), like Allaah Ta’ala said:
<< And the mosques are for Allaah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allaah.>> [Jinn:18]

A Warning for Husbands not to get Angry with their Wives
From Azhar bin Sa’eed who said I heard Abu Umamah say:
‘Indeed the Shaytaan comes to a man’s bed after his wife spreads it down and prepares it, then the Shaytaan throws a twig or a stone or something on the bed, to cause the husband to become angry with his wife. So if one of you finds himself in this state then he should not get angry with his wife, indeed that is from the action of the Shaytaan.’

Repelling Pride
Ibn al-Qayyim said:
‘I used to hear Shaykh Islaam Ibn Taymeeya -rahimullaah- say a lot:
《You are the One we worship》 repels ar-Reeyya (showing off) and
《and You are the One whom we seek aid from》 repels pride.’

Secret Charity
Ibn al-Qayyim -rahimullaah- said:
‘I witnessed Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah -may Allah purify his soul- when he would go out to the Jumma prayer he would take whatever he could find at home of bread etc and he would give that in charity secretly on his way to the prayer.
I heard him say: ‘If Allaah has ordered us to give charity before privately consulting the Messenger of Allaah [when he was alive], then privately consulting Allaah Ta’ala is better and foremost in excellence.’
[From Zad by Ibn al-Qayyim 1/395]

روحه ، إذا خرج إلی الجمعة يأخذ ما وجد في البيت من خبز أو غيره ، فيتصدق به في طريقه سرا ، وسمعته يقول: إذا كان الله أمرنا بالصدقة بين يدي مناجاة رسول الله ، فالصدقة بين يدي مناجاته تعالی أفضل وأولی بالفضيلة }}
The Consequences of leaving the Scholars
From Muhammad bin Sireen –rahimahullaah– who said:
‘Indeed there were a people who left seeking knowledge and the gatherings of the scholars.
They took to praying and fasting a lot, so much so that their skins had become dried on to their bones
Then they opposed the Sunnah and they were destroyed. They spilt the blood of the Muslims.
I swear by Allaah whom there is none other worthy of worship, no one did an action based upon ignorance except that he caused more evil than rectification.’

Removing Something Harmful
The great scholar Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen -rahimullaah said:
‘If removing something harmful from a pathway is charitable, then throwing something harmful on to a pathway is evil.’
[From Sharh Riyadh as-Saliheen 3/37]
Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya
Trials & Tribulations
Shaykh Muhammad bin Bazmool quotes:
Imam Dhahabi – rahimullaah – said:
‘If al-Fitn (trials & tribulations) occur then cling to the Sunnah, adhere to remaining silent and do not delve into that which does not concern you.
Whatever you find difficult to understand return it back to Allaah and His Messenger, and refrain yourself and say Allaah knows best. ‘ [Seera Aalaam 20/141]
