1 – She passed away – RadhiAllaahu anha – 17th of Ramadan, 57 AH or 58 AH, after the Witr prayer. This occurred during the Khilafah of Mu’awiyah Ibn Abi Sufyaan.
2 – Her Request of Being Buried in al-Baqi graveyard at night
From Qays bin Abi Hazim who said that Ayesha RadhiAllaahu anha used to say to herself:
‘I wished to be buried in my house alongside the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam and Abu Bakr.
However, she later said: ‘I caused an event to occur after the death of the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam; bury me with his other wives.’ Consequently, she was buried in the Baqi graveyard.
[Collected by al-Hakim in ‘al-Mustadrak’ & authenticated by Dhahabi]
3 – Buried at night
In another narration she said:
Bury me with my co-wives (the mothers of the Believers) and do not bury me alongside the Prophet SallAllaahu alayhi wa Salam for indeed I dislike to be praised.’
So she was buried in al-Baqi graveyard during the night in accordance to her final will.’
[Collected by Ibn Saad in ‘Tabaqat al-Kubra’]
4 – The Janazah prayer was led by Abu Hurairah
It is mentioned in ‘al-Isti’aab’ by Ibn AbdulBarr and by Dhahabi in ‘Seera’ that Abu Hurairah RadhiAllaahu anhu led the funeral prayer over here. This was during the time Marwan bin al-Hakm was the Khalifa of Madinah.
