The Different Ways of Giving Salam at the End of the Prayer

Shaykh Muhammad Nasiruddeen Al-Albaani d.1420 A.H said:
‘The Messenger ﷺ used to have different types of at-Tasleem (giving salaam at the end of the prayer), the least and easiest was giving one Salam.
This was not done by turning completely to the right, rather a person moves his head a little, and he only says ‘as-salamu alaykum’ and the prayer ends.
The second type which the Messenger used to do sometimes was saying ‘as-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah’ on the right hand side,
and say ‘as-salamu alaykum’ on the left without saying, ‘rahmatullaah’.
This is from the manners of Islaam in distinguishing the right hand side over the left hand side.
The third type, which you hear in all the Masajid, equally saying between the right hand side and left, ‘assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah’.
The fourth and last type which is saying, ‘Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuhu’ and on the other side ‘Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah’.
This is the best type. The meaning of all this speech is that the Messenger sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam used to sometimes say the salaam in these four different ways.
We return and say, that the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam.’

ما هي صورالتسليم للخروج من الصلاة ؟
الشيخ الألباني :الرسول صلى الله عليه و سلم كان له أنواع من التسليم فأهونها و أيسرها تسليمة واحدة و ليس على اليمين تماما وإنما ينحرف برأسه قليلا فيقول السلام عليكم فقط انتهت الصلاة ۰
الصورة الثانية التي كان الرسول يفعلها أحيانا السلام عليكم و رحمة الله ـ عن اليمين ـ, السلام عليكم على الشمال دون و رحمة الله و هذا من أدب الإسلام في تمييز جهة اليمين على جهة اليسار ,
الصورة الثالثة هي التي تسمعونها في كل المساجد التسوية بين اليمين و اليسار السلام عليكم و رحمة الله ,السلام عليكم و رحمة الله ,
الصورة الرابعة و الأخيرة هي السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته , السلام عليكم و رحمة الله وهذه أفضلها ومعنى هذا الكلام كله أن الرسول صلى الله عليه و سلم كان تارة
يسلم هكذا و تارة هكذا و تارة هكذا و تارة هكذا و نعود لنقول خير الهدى هدى محمّد صلى الله عليه وسلم .
