How Pharaoh Tortured His Wife

From Abu Hurairah who said:
أنَّ فِرعونَ أوْتَدَ لامرأتِهِ أربعةَ أوتادٍ في يديها ورجليها فكان إذا تَفَرَّقوا عنها أطلقتها الملائِكَةُ فقالتْ: رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِنْدَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ فكشَفَ لها عَن بيْتها في الجنةِ
‘Firawn staked his wife with four stakes, one each for her hands and feet. When the people would move away from her the Angels would free her, and she said: 《’My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise, and save me from Fir’aun and his work, and save me from the people who are Zalimun (wrong-doers and disbelievers in Allaah).’》Allaah uncovered for her, her house in Paradise.’
[Al-Albaani said: Collected by Abu Ya’ala in his ‘Musnad’ Al-Albaani said: this is how it occurs Mawqoof not Marfoo’ but it takes the ruling of Marfoo’, this is because a matter like this, is not said based upon an opinion along with the possibility that the narration is from the narrations of Banu Israel.
Its Isnaad is Saheeh upon the condition of Muslim. Suyooti Collected it in ‘ad-Durr al-Manthoor’ 6/245 also Mawqoof.
He said: ‘Collected by Abu Ya’ala and al-Bayhaqi with an authentic chain from Abu Hurairah.’
Then Suyooti referenced it to Abd bin Humaid from Abu Hurairah also Mawqoof with similar wording.
Al-Hafidh Ibn Hajr said in ‘al-Matalib al-Aaleeyah’ 3/390 ‘Saheeh Mawqoof’
Al-Haythamee said ‘and its narrators are those of Bukhari.’]
This narration has a supporting narration from the hadeeth of Salman -RadhiAllaahu anhu- who said:
كانت امرأة فرعون تعذب بالشمس ,
فإذا انصرفوا عنها أظلتها الملائكة بأجنحتها ,
و كانت ترى بيتها في الجنة .
‘The wife of Firawn was tortured by being placed in the sun, When the people would move away from her the Angels would shade her with their wings and she would see her home in Paradise.’
[Collected by Tabari in his Tafsir and Hakim said ‘It is Saheeh upon the conditions of Bukhari & Muslim.’ ]
[Dhahabi agreed with him, and it is as they said it was.
Suyooti referenced it also to Ibn Abi Shaybah and Abd bin Humayd and Ibn al-Mundhir and al-Bayhaqi in ‘Shu’ab al-Eemaan’
I (Al-Albaani) say: then ‘Shu’ab al-Eemaan’ was printed and I saw that he collected it from two paths, from Yazeed bin Haroon, who informed Sulayman at-Taymee from Abu Uthman from Salman with the narration also Mawqoof and its Isnaad is Saheeh]
Then he collected it from the way of Mu’amar from Abu Rafa’ who said:
“ وتد فرعون لامرأته أربعة أوتاد . ثم حمل على بطنها رحى عظيمة حتى ماتت “ .
‘Firawn staked his wife with pegs and placed a huge mill stone on her stomach until she died.’
[It is authentic however along with it being maqwoof it is mursal.]

عن أبي هريرةَ رضي اللهُ عنه: أنَّ فِرعونَ أوْتَدَ لامرأتِهِ أربعةَ أوتادٍ في يديها ورجليها فكان إذا تَفَرَّقوا عنها أطلقتها الملائِكَةُ فقالتْ: رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِنْدَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ فكشَفَ لها عَن بيْتها في الجنةِ
الحديث : 33968
يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ , عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ , قَالَ : ” كَانَتِ امْرَأَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ تُعَذَّبُ بِالشَّمْسِ , فَإِذَا انْصَرَفُوا عَنْهَا أَظَلَّتْهَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ بِأَجْنِحَتِهَا , فَكَانَتْ تَرَى بَيْتَهَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ” .
قال سلمان الفارسي رضي الله عنه
كانت امرأة فرعون تعذب بالشمس فإذا انصرفوا عنها أظلتهاالملائكة بأجنحتها فكانت ترى بيتها من الجنة … [ ابن أبي شيبة في المصنف ٣٥٨٠١ ]

قال الألباني في “ السلسلة الصحيحة “ 6 / 35 :أخرجه أبو يعلى في “ مسنده “ ( 4 / 1521 – 1522 ) : هكذا وقع فيه موقوفا عليه غير مرفوع , و هو في حكم المرفوع , لأنه لا يقال بمجرد الرأي , مع احتمال كونه من الإسرائيليات .
قلت : و إسناده صحيح على شرط مسلم , و قد أورده السيوطي في “ الدر المنثور “ ( 6 / 245 ) موقوفا أيضا , و قال : “ أخرجه أبو يعلى و البيهقي بسند صحيح عن أبي هريرة “ .
ثم عزاه لعبد بن حميد عن أبي هريرة موقوفا أيضا نحوه .
و قال الحافظ ابن حجر في “ المطاب العالية “ ( 3 / 390 ) :“ صحيح موقوف “ .
و قال الهيثمي ( 9 / 218 ) : “ و رجاله رجال الصحيح “ .
و له شاهد من حديث سلمان رضي الله عنه قال :
كانت امرأة فرعون تعذب بالشمس , فإذا انصرفوا عنها أظلتها الملائكة بأجنحتها ,
و كانت ترى بيتها في الجنة .
أخرجه الطبري في “ تفسيره “ ( 28 / 110 ) و الحاكم ( 2 / 496 ) و قال : “ صحيح على شرط الشيخين “ .
و وافقه الذهبي , و هو كما قالا .
و عزاه السيوطي لابن أبي شيبة أيضا و عبد بن حميد و ابن المنذر و البيهقي في “شعب الإيمان
قلت : ثم طبع “ شعب الإيمان “ هذا , فرأيته قد أخرجه من طريقين عن يزيد بن هارون : أنبأنا سليمان التيمي عن أبي عثمان عن سلمان به موقوفا أيضا .
و إسناده صحيح . ثم أخرج ( 1638 ) من طريق معمر عن ثابت عن أبي رافع قال :
“ وتد فرعون لامرأته أربعة أوتاد . ثم حمل على بطنها رحى عظيمة حتى ماتت “ .
و هذا صحيح . لكنه مع وقفه مرسل .
