Floating in the Air

The Shaytaan may resemble a righteous person to misguide
the people
Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn Taymeeya-Rahimahullaah- said
‘Just as the Shayateen (devils) enter into idols and speak to their worshippers and fulfil some of their needs, as was the case of the idols of the Mushriks of the Arabs – and nowadays is present among the Mushriks of the Turks and India and others.
Likewise, I know of many occurrences of people who sought deliverance -Istigatha- with me and other than me in our absence.
So they (presumed) that they saw me or the other individual who they sought deliverance -Istigatha- with, came to them floating in the air and defended them.
When they narrated this to me, I explained to them that the other person was indeed Shaytaan who came in my image and in the image of other shayukh whom these people sought deliverance -Istigatha- with.
The Shaytaan does this so the people think that this is from the miracles -Karamaat- of the shaykh. This is so that they strengthen their resolve in seeking deliverance -Istigatha- with the shayukh who are not present or deceased.
This is from the greatest means with which the Mushrikoon and worshippers of idols commit Shirk.’

▪الشيطان قد يتمثل بالرجل الصالح ليضل الناس.
قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله
– كما تدخل الشياطين في الأصنام وتكلم عابديها وتقضي بعض حوائجهم، كما كان ذلك في أصنام مشركي العرب، وهو اليوم موجود في المشركين من الترك والهند وغيرهم.
وأعرف من ذلك وقائع كثيرة في أقوام استغاثوا بي، وبغيري في حال غيبتنا، فرأوني أو ذاك الآخر الذي استغاثوا به قد جئنا الى الهواء ودفعنا عنهم، ولما حدثوني بذلك بينت لهم أن ذاك إنما هو شيطان تصور بصورتي وصورة غيري من الشيوخ الذين استغاثوا بهم ليظنوا أن ذلك من كرامات للشيخ، فتقوى عزائمهم في الاستغاثة بالشيوخ الغائبين والميتين، وهذا من أكبر الأسباب التي بها أشرك المشركون وعبدة الأوثان.
