From Ubayy bin Ka’ab who said the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:
” يَا أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ، أَتَدْرِي أَيُّ آيَةٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مَعَكَ أَعْظَمُ ؟ “
‘O Abal Mundhir, do you know which Ayaah in the Book of Allaah is the greatest, according to you?
I answered: Allaah and His Messenger know best.
يَا أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ، أَتَدْرِي أَيُّ آيَةٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مَعَكَ أَعْظَمُ ؟
‘O Abal Mundhir, do you know which Ayaah in the Book of Allaah is the greatest, according to you’
I said:
{ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ }
《none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. 》 [2:255]
Abul Mundhir said: The Messenger struck me on my chest and said:
وَاللَّهِ، لِيَهْنِكَ الْعِلْمُ أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ
‘I swear by Allaah, may knowledge congratulate you Abal Mundhir.
