Contentment & Poverty

From Abu Dharr who said that the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam said:
“يا أبا ذَرٍّ ! أَتَرَى أنَّ كثرةَ المالِ هو الغِنَى؟ إنما الغِنَى غِنَى القلبِ ، والفقرُ فقرُ القلبِ ، مَن كان الغِنَى في قلبِه ، فلا يَضُرُّه ما لَقِيَ من الدنيا ، ومَن كان الفقرُ في قلبِه ، فلا يُغْنِيهِ ما أُكْثِرَ له في الدنيا ، وإنما يَضُرُّ نَفْسَه شُحُّها “.
‘O Abu Dharr! Do you think that having lots of money is being
content? In fact, contentment is contentment of the heart, and poverty is poverty of the heart. Whoever has contentment in his heart, then nothing harms you from what you face of the Duniya. Whoever has poverty in his heart, nothing will give him contentment even if he has a lot of the Duniya, therefore, what harms him is miserliness of his soul.’

عن أبي ذر قال: قال رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم -:
” يا أبا ذَرٍّ ! أَتَرَى أنَّ كثرةَ المالِ هو الغِنَى ؟ إنما الغِنَى غِنَى القلبِ ، والفقرُ فقرُ القلبِ ، مَن كان الغِنَى في قلبِه ، فلا يَضُرُّه ما لَقِيَ من الدنيا ، ومَن كان الفقرُ في قلبِه ، فلا يُغْنِيهِ ما أُكْثِرَ له في الدنيا ، وإنما يَضُرُّ نَفْسَه شُحُّها “.
