Concern for the Heart By Shaykh Usama bin Sa’ood al-Amri

Shaykh Usama bin Sa’ood al-Amri said:
‘If you take great concern with protecting your heart, then do not take knowledge except from the one who has been testified to with this knowledge, this is the first thing’.
Secondly, if you take great concern with protecting your heart, then keep away from everything that Allaah – Azza wa jal – has made Haram (prohibited), and carry out His commands.
As for when you claim that you have a great concern for your heart and take knowledge from anyone and everyone. You claim that you have a great concern for your heart while you commit sins and perpetrate disobedience and sins. So even though you have said this statement but your actions belie this statement. Therefore, a person should have Taqwa of his Lord and he should humble himself in front of Allaah – Azza wa Jal – and as we have said time and again, Knowledge is not knowing lots of narrations but rather knowledge is humility.’
