The Sufi helpers of the Colonialists

Shaykh al-Basheer al-Ibraheemi -Rahimahullaah- said:
‘Indeed the French colonialists did not anchor their rule in Algeria, and generally over north Africa, western Africa and central Africa except at the hands of the Sufi paths and with their help.
One of the well-known French Army commanders said a statement which summarised all of this:
‘The gains made by way of the shaykhs of the Sufi paths was more beneficial for us than preparing a whole army.’

❍ قال العلامة البشير الإبراهيمي -رحمه اللّه تعالى-:
« *فإن الاستعمار الفرنسي ما رست قواعده في الجزائر وفي شمال أفريقيا على العموم وفي أفريقيا الغربية وفي أفريقيا الوسطى إلا على الطرق الصوفية وبواسطتها..*
ولقد قال قائد عسكري فرنسي معروف كلمة أحاطت بالمعنى من جميع أطرافه
قال: *(إن كسب شيخ طريقة صوفية أنفع لنا من تجهيز جيش كامل)* ».
