Part 2
Feeling Ashamed of Sinning
مَنِ اسْتَحَى مِنَ اللَّهِ
Ibn al-Qayyim – Rahimahullaah – said:
‘Whoever feels ashamed from Allaah when sinning against Him; Then Allaah is ashamed from punishing him on the day when he will meet Allaah, and whoever does not feel ashamed from sinning against Allaah then Allaah is not ashamed from punishing him.’
[Ad-Da’ wa Da’wa p. 69]
The foundations of Sin
Ibn al-Qayyim – Rahimahullaah – said:
The origins of all sinning whether major or lesser are three:
The heart’s attachment to other than Allaah.
Submitting to the power of anger.
Submitting to the power of lusts and desires.
These foundations are manifested in Shirk, oppression and evil sexual acts.
Therefore, the objective of the attachment to other than Allaah is Shirk and to claim that there is another deity along with Allaah.
The objective of submitting to the power of anger is murdering someone.
The objective of Submitting to the power of lusts and desires is Zina (evil sexual acts).
This is why Allaah Subhanahu gathered these three foundations in His statement:
{ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ }
<<And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allaah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse >>
[Al-Furqān – 68]

Seeking Forgiveness
Shaykh ul Islam Ibn Taymeeyah rahimahullaah said
Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness) removes all evil.
Everything evil which afflicts the believer is indeed because of his sins.
Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness) wipes away sins and removes punishment, as Allaah Ta’ala said:
(وما كان الله معذبهم وهم يستغفرون)
<<nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah’s) Forgiveness.>>

قال ابن القيم رحمه الله تعالىٰ :
“{ وَمَنِ اسْتَحَى مِنَ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ مَعْصِيَتِهِ ؛
اسْتَحَى اللَّهُ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِهِ يَوْمَ يَلْقَاهُ ،
وَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَحِ مِنْ مَعْصِيَتِهِ ، لَمْ يَسْتَحِ اللَّهُ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِهِ } “اهـ.

أصول المعاصي
أصول المعاصي كلها كبارها وصغارها ثلاثة :
تعلق القلب بغير الله ،
وطاعة القوة الغضبية
والقوة الشهوانية ،
وهي الشرك والظلم والفواحش ، فغاية التعلق بغير الله شرك وأن يدعى معه إله آخر . وغاية طاعة القوة الغضبية القتل . وغاية طاعة القوة الشهوانية الزنا .
ولهذا جمع الله سبحانه بين الثلاثة في قوله { وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ } [ الفرقان: ٦٨ ]
الفوائد صـ ٧٥ .
الاستغفار يزيل الشرَّ
قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية
رحمه الله : والاستغفار يزيل الشرَّ كلَّه ، وكل ما يصيب المؤمن من الشرَّ فإنما هو بذنوبه والاستغفار يمحو الذنوب فيزيل العذاب كما قال تعالى ( وما كان الله معذبهم وهم يستغفرون ) . [جامع المسائل : ٢٧٤/٦]
