Imam of Sunnah, the scholar of Hadeeth Al-Albaani – Rahimahullaah said:
[ لا يجوز لمن كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر It Is not permissible for the one who believes in Allaah and the last day
أن يتخذ في هذه الدنيا شيخًا واحدًا مهما سما وعلا،
To take in this Duniya only one Shaykh no matter his loftiness, and high status,
مهما كان في ظنِّه عالمًا وصالحًا و إلى آخره؛
No matter how much a person presumes that this Shaykh is a great scholar and is righteous etc, etc.
وإنما يكون كالنحلة تطوف على كل الأشجار والأزهار
In fact, a person should be like a bee and fly around to all the different trees and flowers
فتأخذ منها ما تخرج من بطونها ذاك العسل المشهود له بأنه شفاء للناس،
And take from it what it excretes, from its stomach of that honey, which is attested to,
that it is a treatment for people.
هكذا ينبغي أن يكون المسلم يأخذ من كل عالم ما عنده من علم،
This is how it is necessary for a Muslim to be, in that he takes from every scholar of what he has of knowledge,
كما كان علماء السلف -رضي الله عنهم- فهم قد ترجموا لكثير من العلماء بأنهم كان لهم مئات الشيوخ
Just as the Scholars of the Salaf – RadhiAllaahu anhu were. As we find in the biographies of many of the Scholars that they would have hundreds of Shaykhs.’
