[Seven Matters]
From Anas RadhiAllaahu anhu who said: the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:
سبعٌ يَجري للعبدِ أجرُهُنَّ، و هوَ في قَبرِه بعدَ موتِه: مَن علَّمَ علمًا ، أو كرَى نهرًا ، أو حفَر بِئرًا ، أوغرَسَ نخلًا ، أو بنَى مسجِدًا ، أو ورَّثَ مُصحفًا ، أو ترَكَ ولدًا يستغفِرُ لهُ بعد موتِه.
‘The reward for seven matters will continue for a worshipper, whilst he is in his grave after his death: Whoever taught some knowledge, or made a river, or dug a well, or planted a date-tree, or built a masjid, or gave a Qur’aan in inheritance, or left behind a son who seeks forgiveness for him after his death.’

In another wording:
أو أجرى نهراً، أو حفر بئراً،
…..Or let a river to flow, or digs a well….’

From Abu Hurairah who said that the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam said:
إِنَّ مِمَّا يَلْحَقُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ وَحَسَنَاتِهِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ : عِلْمًا عَلَّمَهُ وَنَشَرَهُ ، وَوَلَدًا صَالِحًا تَرَكَهُ ، وَمُصْحَفًا وَرَّثَهُ ، أَوْ مَسْجِدًا بَنَاهُ ، أَوْ بَيْتًا لِابْنِ السَّبِيلِ بَنَاهُ ، أَوْ نَهْرًا أَجْرَاهُ ، أَوْ صَدَقَةً أَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ مَالِهِ فِي صِحَّتِهِ وَحَيَاتِهِ يَلْحَقُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهِ
‘Indeed, what follows a believer of his actions and good deeds after his death are: Knowledge which he taught and spread, a righteous son whom he left behind, a Qur’aan which he bequeathed, or a Masjid which he built, or a house which he built for the way farer, or made a river, or charity which he took out from his wealth during his good health and in his lifetime, follows him after his death.’

From Abu Umamah al-Bahily from the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam that he said:
أَرْبَعَةٌ تَجْرِي عَلَيْهِمْ أُجُورُهُمْ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ : مَنْ مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ،
وَمَنْ عَلَّمَ عِلْمًا أُجْرِيَ لَهُ أَجْرُهُ مَا عُمِلَ بِهِ ، وَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ فَأَجْرُهَا يَجْرِي لَهُ مَا جَرَتْ، وَرَجُلٌ تَرَكَ وَلَدًا صَالِحًا فَهُوَ يَدْعُو لَهُ
‘There are four matters for which the reward will continue after death: Whoever dies guarding the borders in the path of Allaah, whoever taught some knowledge then he will be rewarded for it as long as that knowledge is acted upon, whoever gave charity then the reward for it and a man who leaves a righteous son who makes Dua for him.’

[Three Matters]
From Abu Hurairah that the Messenger ﷺ said:
إِذَا مَـاتَ الإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلاَّ مِـنْ ثَلاَثَةٍ،
▪إِلاَّ مِنْ صَـدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ،
▪أَوْ عِـلْمٍ يُنْتَـفَعُ بِهِ،
▪أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَـالِحٍ يَدْعُـو لَهُ .
‘When a person dies his actions are cut off except for three:
Except from recurring charity’ Or knowledge by which a person benefits, or a righteous son who prays for him.’

Knowledge is the best of the three benefits of seeking knowledge of the Sharia
Shaykh Ibn al-Uthaymeen Rahimahullaah said:
‘The best of these three is knowledge by which a person benefits. I will give you an example, in fact, many examples.
Abu Hurairah RadhiAllaahu anhu was from the most knowledgeable of the Companions after the Messenger sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam and he would sometimes fall on the ground due to severe hunger, along with that most of the Muslims now only read his narrations.
This is because he is from those who conveyed a lot of Ahadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam to us and that is recurring charity.
Bring me the richest person who used to give charity at the time of Abu Hurairah RadhiAllaahu anhu, does his charity remain now?! The answer is no.
Imam Ahmad and Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah Rahimahamullaah both teach us while they are in their grave; because their books are in our hands.
If we were to look at the best Khalifah, the best merchant at the time of Ibn Taymeeyah Rahimahullaah
Did their good reach us today ?! No, therefore, knowledge is the most beneficial of the three matters.’

Ibn al-Jawzi Rahimahullaah said:
‘Whoever would love to be an inheritor of the Prophets and a farmer in the Prophets’ farms, then it is upon him to learn beneficial knowledge and that is the knowledge of the Deen, because of the Hadeeth:
العلماء ورثة الأنبياء
‘The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets’
Also to attend the gatherings of the scholars, since indeed they are the gardens of Paradise.
Whoever would love to know his share of Allaah’s concern for him, then he should look at his portion and share of understanding of the Deen of Allaah. This is in the Hadeeth:
من يرد الله به خيرًا يفقهه في الدين
‘Whomsoever Allaah wants good for, then He gives him the understanding of the religion.’
Whoever asked about the path which will make him reach Paradise, then he should walk to the gatherings of knowledge.
There is in the Hadeeth:
من سلك طريقًا يلتمس فيها علمًا سلك الله به طريقًا إلىٰ الجنة
‘Whoever follows a path seeking knowledge on that path then Allaah takes him on the path to Paradise.’
Whoever loves that his deeds are not cut off after his death then he should distribute knowledge by writing and by teaching. There is in the Hadeeth:
The Messenger ﷺ said:
إِذَا مَـاتَ الإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلاَّ مِـنْ ثَلاَثَةٍ،
▪إِلاَّ مِنْ صَـدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ،
▪أَوْ عِـلْمٍ يُنْتَـفَعُ بِهِ،
▪أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَـالِحٍ يَدْعُـو لَهُ .
‘When a person dies his actions are cut off except for three:
Except from recurring charity’ Or knowledge by which a person benefits, Or a righteous son who prays for him.’

Shaykh Abdurahman as-Sa’adi said:
‘If actions are discontinued due to death and the scrolls of the worshipper are rolled up, but as for the people of knowledge then their good deeds increase every time someone benefits from their teachings, and is guided by the statements and actions of the people of knowledge.
So in reality the person with intellect and is given the ability would spend the most valuable of his time, and the jewel of his life time, and prepare for the day when he will be destitute and needy.’

Salvation from tribulations
Shaykh Muqbil al-Wada’aee Rahimahullaah said:
نحن في زمن الفتن ولا ينقذنا من الفتن إلا اللّٰـه سبحانه وتعالى ثم العلم النافع
‘We are in an era of Fitn (tribulations) no one can rescue us from Fitn except Allaah Azza wa Jal then beneficial knowledge.’
[Qama’ al-Muaanid 2/370]
Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdullateef ala ash-Shaykh said:
‘Know that nothing can save you when differences occur and trials increase except knowledge.
Not everyone who is ascribed to knowledge and adorns himself in its garments is asked, and asked for fatwa and is regarded as safe for your Deen.
Do not take from anyone and everyone and who prohibits Fiqh and knowledge, because you will be responsible for it on the day of Judgement.’

Shaykh AbdulAziz bin Baz said:
فإن القلوب الخالية من العلوم النافعة تتقبل كل شيء، ويعلق بها كل باطل، إلاّ من رحم الله
‘Indeed, hearts devoid of beneficial knowledge accept everything and adhere to every falsehood except for the person whom Allaah has mercy upon.’
[Majmoo al-Fatawa 8/120]
Shaykh Rabee bin Hadi al-Madkhali said:
‘The Angels lower their wings in acceptance for the student of knowledge.
The Angels do not lower their wings, not for kings, or businessmen, or for the one chasing the Dunya, or for other than them, not even for the worshippers, or for the righteous, and they do not lower their wings for the mujahideen (those who fight in the way of Allaah).
In fact, they lower their wings for the student of knowledge and this is honour for the student of knowledge from Allaah -Tabaraka wa Ta’ala, and in encouragement for the student of knowledge, and this is not something far-fetched since indeed the Angels have a concern and care for the believers. ‘

Parents Benefit from their Children’s Good Deeds
From Abu Hurairah – Radi Allaahu anhu – who said that the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:
إن الرجل لترفع درجته في الجنة فيقول : أنى ( لي ) هذا ؟ فيقال : باستغفار ولدك لك
‘Indeed, Allaah raises the grade of a righteous slave of His in Paradise so much that the slave of Allaah says: ‘O My Lord! From where is all this for me? He will say: ‘By your son seeking forgiveness for you.’

Spread Knowledge
Ibn al-Jawzi -Rahimahullaah- said:
‘Whoever loves that his deeds are continuous after his death, then he should spread knowledge.’

Arabic Reference
عن أنس رضي الله عنه قال : قال رسول الله – ﷺ – :
سبعٌ يَجري للعبدِ أجرُهُنَّ ، و هوَ في قَبرِه بعدَ موتِه :مَن علَّمَ علمًا ، أو أجرَى نهرًا ، أو حفَر بِئرًا ، أوغرَسَ نخلًا ، أو بنَى مسجِدًا ، أو ورَّثَ مُصحفًا ، أو ترَكَ ولدًا يستغفِرُ لهُ بعد موتِه.
صحيح الجامع (3602)
عن أبي هريرة قال :قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:
((إِنَّ مِمَّا يَلْحَقُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ وَحَسَنَاتِهِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ : عِلْمًا عَلَّمَهُ وَنَشَرَهُ ، وَوَلَدًا صَالِحًا تَرَكَهُ ، وَمُصْحَفًا وَرَّثَهُ ، أَوْ مَسْجِدًا بَنَاهُ ، أَوْ بَيْتًا لِابْنِ السَّبِيلِ بَنَاهُ ، أَوْ نَهْرًا أَجْرَاهُ ، أَوْ صَدَقَةً أَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ مَالِهِ فِي صِحَّتِهِ وَحَيَاتِهِ يَلْحَقُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهِ ))
رواه ابن ماجه (242) وحسنه الألباني رحمه الله في (صحيح سنن ابن ماجه) (198) .
عن أبي أمامة الباهلي رضي الله عنه عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال :
((أَرْبَعَةٌ تَجْرِي عَلَيْهِمْ أُجُورُهُمْ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ : مَنْ مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَمَنْ عَلَّمَ عِلْمًا أُجْرِيَ لَهُ أَجْرُهُ مَا عُمِلَ بِهِ ، وَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ فَأَجْرُهَا يَجْرِي لَهُ مَا جَرَتْ، وَرَجُلٌ تَرَكَ وَلَدًا صَالِحًا فَهُوَ يَدْعُو لَهُ ))

عن أبي هريرة قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

*ثمرات طلب العلم الشرعيّ*
*العلم أفضلُ الثلاثة في المنفعة *
*قـال رســول الله ﷺ :*
إِذَا مَـاتَ الإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلاَّ مِـنْ ثَلاَثَةٍ،*
*▪إِلاَّ مِنْ صَـدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ،*
*▪أَوْ عِـلْمٍ يُنْتَـفَعُ بِهِ،*
*▪أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَـالِحٍ يَدْعُـو لَهُ .*
*رواه مـسلم *
*قـال العـلامة ابن عثيمين – رحمه الله :*وأفضل هذه الثلاثة العلم الذي ينتفع به؛ وأضرب لكم مثلًا، بل أمثالًا كثيرة :*
*أبو هريرة رضي الله عنه من أفقه الصحابة بعد الرسول ﷺ، يسقط أحيانا على الأرض من شدة الجوع، ومع ذلك أكثر المسلمين الآن لا يقرؤون إلا رواياته فهو من أكثر الذين نقلوا لنا أحاديث رسول الله ﷺ وهي صدقة جارية.*
*ائتوني بأكبر غني كان يتصدَّق في عهد أبي هريرة -رضي الله عنه- هل بقيت صدقاته الآن ؟! الجواب : لا.*
*الإمام أحمد وشيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية -رحمهما الله- كل منهما يدرسنا وهو في قبره؛ لأن كتبه بين أيدينا، لو نظرت إلى أكبر خليفة وأكبر تاجر في عهد ابن تيمية -رحمه الله- هل وصل خيرهم إلينا اليوم؟! أبدًا*:*إذًا العلم أنفع الثلاثة*)
شرح رياض الصالحين4 / 568
قال ابن الجوزي رحمه الله – ( *من أحب أن يكون للأنبياء* وارثًا وفي مزارعهم حارثًا فليتعلم العلم النافع وهو علم الدين ففي الحديث : { العلماء ورثة الأنبياء } وليحضر مجالس العلماء فإنها رياض الجنة ، *ومن أحب أن يعلم ما نصيبه* من عناية الله فلينظر ما نصيبه من الفقه في دين الله ففي الحديث : { من يرد الله به خيرًا يفقهه في الدين } ،
*ومن سأل عن طريق تبلغه الجنة* فليمش إلىٰ مجلس العلم ففي الحديث : { من سلك طريقًا يلتمس فيها علمًا سلك الله به طريقًا إلىٰ الجنة } ،
ومن أحب ألا ينقطع عمله بعد موته فلينشر العلم بالتدوين والتعليم ففي الحديث : { إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له } التذكرة في الوعظ ٥٥/١
*قال العلامة عبد الرحمٰن السعدي رحمه الله* :
( إذا انقطعت الأعمال بالموت، وطويت صحيفة العبد، فأهل العلم حسناتهم تتزايد كلما انْتُفِع بإرشادهم، واهْتُدِيَ بأقوالهم وأفعالهم،فحقيق بالعاقل الموفق أن ينفق فيه نفائس أوقاته، وجواهر عمره، وأن يعده ليوم فقره وفَاقَتِهِ ” )

النجاة من الفتن..
*قال الإمام مقبل الوادعي ـ رحمه اللّٰه ـ :(نحن في زمن الفتن ولا ينقذنا من الفتن إلا اللّٰـه سبحانه وتعالى ثم العلم النافع)

قال العلامة الفقيه محمد بن عبد اللطيف رحمه الله*-
“*واعلموا أنّه لا يُنجي عند اختلاف الناس *، *و كثرة الفتن* ،*إلا البَصِيرَة *؛
*وليس كُل من انتسب إلى العلم *،* وتَزيَّا بزيّه* ، *يُسأل و يُستفتَى و تأمَنُونَهُ على دِينكُم …*ولا تأخدوا عَمَّن هَبَّ ودَبَّ* ، *وحرم الفقه و البصيرة* ، *فإنَّكُم مسؤولُون عن ذلك يوم القيامة *” اﻫـ .

*قال الشيخ ابن باز رحمه الله *:” فإن القلوب الخالية من العلوم النافعة تتقبل كل شيء، ويعلق بها كل باطل، إلاّ من رحم الله “مجموع فتاويه (١٢٠/٨).
*قال الشيخ ربيع بن هادي المدخلي – حفظه اللّه *-:
“و الملائكة تضع أجنحتها رضًا لطالب العلم ، الملائكة ما تضع أجنحتها لا للملوك و لا للتجار ، و لا لطلاب الدنيا ، و لا لغيرهم ، و لا حتى للعُبَّاد ، و لا للصالحين ، حتى للمجاهدين ما تضع أجنحتها ، بل تضع أجنحتها لطالب العلم ، هذا تكريم من اللّه – تبارك و تعالى – لطلاب العلم ، و تشجيع لهم ، و لا نستبعد ذلك ، فإن للملائكة بأمر اللّه عناية للمؤمنين”.
