Wisdom behind saying Takbeer During the 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah

Wisdom behind saying Takbeer During the 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah

Translated

Abbas Abu Yahya

From Abu Huraira from the Prophet: ﷺ:

‘A person does not ever make Talbeeyah [for those on Hajj] except that he is given glad tidings, nor does a person ever say Takbeer [Allaahu Akbar] except that he is given glad tidings.’
It was asked: ‘With Paradise?’
He answered: ‘Yes.’

[Collected by Tabarani & Al-Albaani said its Isnad is Hasan in Silsilah as-Saheehah no. 1621]

Al-Khatabi -Rahimahullaah- said:

‘The wisdom behind saying Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) in these ten days of Dhul Hijjah is that in the time of Jahileeyah they used to slaughter for their false gods in those ten days.

So, saying Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) in the ten days of Dhul Hijjah was legislated has an indication to specifically slaughtering for Allaah and upon His Name -The Magnificent and the Majestic.’
