A – Abu Bakr as-Siddique Radhi Allaahu anhu said:

‘I have not left off anything which the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- used to do, except that I also did that, and I indeed fear that if I left off anything from his commands that I would deviate.’

Ibn Batta commented on this statement in ‘al-Ibaana’ saying:

‘This, O my brothers is Siddique al-Akbar fearing for himself deviating if he were to oppose anything from the command of his Prophet-sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam.

So what will be the state at the time when the people will mock their Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam and his commands, and they are proud in opposing him and mocking his Sunnah!?

We ask Allaah for protection from mistakes and rescue us from evil actions.’

[From ‘al-Ibana al-Kubra’ by Ibn Batta ‘chapter: the mention of what the Sunnah came with of obedience no. 62]

B – Ibn al-Madini said to Abu al-Waleed at-Tayyalisi:

‘What excuse do you have in front of Allaah, and what will you use as evidence if you stand in front of Him and you left off raising your hands before and after Ruku?’

So Abu al-Waleed began raising his hands after eighty years of not having done so!’

[Tareekh al-Islaam by Dhahabi 5/718]

C – Shaykh ul-Islaam Ahmad bin AbdulHaleem Ibn Taymeeyah (d.728 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘Whoever habitually opposes the Sharia with opinions, then Eemaan does not settle in his heart.’

[Dara at-Ta’arad 1/187]

D – Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘Whoever is presented with the truth, and rejects it and does not accept it, then he is afflicted with his heart, intellect and his opinions being corrupt.’

[Miftah Dar Sa’ada 1/160]

E – Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah also said:

‘Just like the one who humbled himself for Allaah then Allaah raises him. Also the one who was haughty and arrogant against obedience to the truth, then Allaah degrades him, humbles him, belittles him and debases him and humiliates him.

Whoever was arrogant against following the truth, even if it came from some one young, or from someone who he hated, or had enmity towards, then he has been arrogant against Allaah, since indeed Allaah is the Truth (Possess the Truth), His speech is True, His Religion is True.

Truth is His Attribute, it comes from Him and it is His. Therefore, if a slave of Allaah rejects the truth, is arrogant in accepting it, then Allaah refutes him and this individual has been arrogant against Allaah.’

[Madarij as Salikeen 2/317]
