The most intellectual of the Ummah

Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim -Rahimahullaah- said:
وكلما كان الرجل عن الرسول أبعد كان عقله أقل وأفسد ، فأكمل الناس عقولًا أتباع الرسل ، وأفسدهم عقولًا المعرض عنهم وعما جاءوا به ،
ولهذا كان أهل السنة والحديث أعقل الأمة ، وهم في الطوائف كالصحابة في الناس .
‘Whenever a person is further away from the Messenger then his intellect is lesser and more corrupt. Those people with the most complete intellect are the followers of the Messengers.
Those with the most corrupt intellect are those who turn away from the Messengers and what they brought.
This is why Ahl ul Sunnah wal Hadeeth are the most intellectual of the Ummah, and they amongst the different sects, are like the Companions were amongst the people.’
