The Dreadful Pain of Divorce for a Righteous Woman

Shaykh ul Islam Ibn Taymeeyah rahimahullaah said:
‘A righteous wife remains in the company of her righteous husband for many many years.
She is a delightful provision for the husband. The Messenger of Allaah – SallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam said about her:
{الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌ وَخَيْرُ مَتَاعِهَا الْمَرْأَةُ الْمُؤْمِنَةُ إنْ نَظَرْت إلَيْهَا أَعْجَبَتْك؛ وَإِنْ أَمَرْتهَا أَطَاعَتْك وَإِنْ غِبْت عَنْهَا حَفِظَتْك فِي نَفْسِهَا وَمَالِك}
‘The worldly life is a provision and the best provision of the world is a believing woman, when you look at her you admire her and are pleased.
When you order her she obeys you. When you are absent from her she guards herself and your wealth.’
The righteous woman is whom the Prophet – SallAllaahu alayhi wa Sallam commanded with his saying:
{لَمَّا سَأَلَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ أَيَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ؟
‘When the Muhajiroon asked the Prophet which wealth should we take?’
The Prophet replied:
لِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا؛ وَقَلْبًا شَاكِرًا أَوْ امْرَأَةً صَالِحَةً تُعِينُ أَحَدَكُمْ عَلَى إيمَانِهِ
‘A tongue which says Dhikr, a heart which is grateful or a righteous woman who helps one of you upon your Eemaan.’
Collected by Tirmidhi from the Hadeeth of Salim bin Abi al-Jaad from Thawban.
He gains from her love and mercy which Allaah blessed and favoured him which was written for him.
Therefore, the pain of separation is:
١-أشد عليها من الموت أحيانا.
1- more painful upon her than death, sometimes.
٢-وأشد من ذهابِ المال.
2 – more severe than loosing wealth.
٣-وأشَد من فِراق الأوطان”.
3- more hurtful than being separated from one’s country.’

ألَم الفراق
قال ابن تيمية -رحمه الله-:
“المَرأة الصَّالحة تكون في صُحبة زوجها الرَّجل الصالح سنين كثيرة، وَهِيَ مَتَاعُهُ الَّذِي قَالَ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
{الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌ وَخَيْرُ مَتَاعِهَا الْمَرْأَةُ الْمُؤْمِنَةُ إنْ نَظَرْت إلَيْهَا أَعْجَبَتْك؛ وَإِنْ أَمَرْتهَا أَطَاعَتْك وَإِنْ غِبْت عَنْهَا حَفِظَتْك فِي نَفْسِهَا وَمَالِك}
وَهِيَ الَّتِي أَمَرَ بِهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ {لَمَّا سَأَلَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ أَيَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ؟
فَقَالَ: لِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا؛ وَقَلْبًا شَاكِرًا أَوْ امْرَأَةً صَالِحَةً تُعِينُ أَحَدَكُمْ عَلَى إيمَانِهِ}
رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ ثوبان
ويكون منها من الموَدة والرَّحمة ما امتنَّ الله تعالى بها فِي كتابه، فيكون ألَم الفراق:
١-أشد عليها من الموت أحيانا.
٢-وأشد من ذهابِ المال.
٣-وأشَد من فِراق الأوطان”.
