Shaykh Muhammad Nasiruddeen Al-Albaani Rahimahullaah said:
‘We would like to remind everyone about the picture of the dome of the rock which is widespread specifically among our Palestinian brothers because what is widespread especially in many of the Arab lands, that the rock which is mentioned in Masjid al-Aqsa has a sacredness and a special distinction.
However, there is no reality to this in the Sharia whatsoever.
It is with regret that with the claimed ‘sacredness’ for this rock in Masjid al-Aqsa has been taken as a political opportunity and the rulers utilise it and compete in trying to renovate it and rebuild it, etc.
It is as if this rock is the Masjid al-Haraam.
Therefore, from the obligation upon us is to remind, and the reminder benefits the believers.
This rock has no value to it, except that which is the same as for all mountains which Allaah has created upon the earth and this matter of course is natural and general.’

الشيخ : بدنا نذكر بصورة الصخرة المنتشرة بين إخواننا الفلسطينيين بخاصة لأن الشائع في كثير من البلاد العربية بخاصة أن الصخرة التي تذكر في المسجد الأقصى لها قداسة و لها مزية خاصة و هذا مما لا حقيقة له في الشرع إطلاقا و من المؤسف أن هذه القداسة المزعومة للصخرة في المسجد الأقصى تستغل سياسيا و يتظاهر الحكام و يتسابقون في القيام بترميمها و تجديد بنائها و ما شابه ذلك و كأن هذه الصخرة هي المسجد الحرام فمن واجبنا أن نذكر و الذكرى تنفع المؤمنين أن هذه الصخرة لا قيمة لها إلا ما لكل جبل خلقه الله في الأرض من قيمة و هذا طبعا أمر عادي و عام !
