Shaykh Muhammad Nasir uddeen Al-Albaani said:
‘There is nothing in the Sharia which orders a business man to limit the amount of profits he can earn on a commodity.
Therefore, he can profit with what he likes within the confines of not being unjust in regards to the rights of the people who are in need of the commodity.
If greed overtakes the businessman and he raises the prices then it becomes correct and rightful for the government to enter and decree a reasonable limited price.
But in normal circumstances it is not permissible for anyone to fix a price and there is no limit to profit.
However, it is upon the Muslim to fear Allaah and to be merciful to the Muslims and this is why the sharia made it Haram to hoard up.’
