The Shaykh: wa alaykum as-salam wa rahmatullaah
The Shaykh: Yes
The Questioner: How are you?
The Shaykh: Praise be to Allaah I am well.
The Questioner: May Allaah give you a long life.
The Shaykh: Welcome.
The Questioner: O Shaykh we want to ask you about Salatul Istikhara and how to make the Dua in it?
The Shaykh: The Dua is mentioned by the Messenger alayhi as-Salam,
have you not memorised it?
The Questioner: pardon O Shaykh?
The Shaykh: The Dua is mentioned by the Messenger alayhi as-Salam,
have you not memorised it?

The Questioner: I swear by Allaah, O Shaykh I am sitting with my brothers and they asked me how to pray Istikhara.
The Shaykh: Istikhara is about….
The Questioner: Two Rakat.
The Shaykh: Two Rakat, which is prayed by the praying person performing Istikhara
The Questioner: …with tranquillity and Khushoo.
The Shaykh: with tranquillity and Khushoo and with turning his heart to Allaah Azza wa Jal. Then after Salam make Dua with the Dua of the Messenger.
اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أسْتَخِيرُكُ بِعِلْمِكَ
O Allaah I request of You with Your knowledge.
The Questioner:
اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي
‘O Allaah I….’
The Shaykh:
إنِّي أسْتَخِيرُكُ بِعِلْمِكَ
I request of You with Your knowledge,
The Questioner:
بِعِلْمِكَ
with Your knowledge
The Shaykh:
وَأسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ
and by Your Power I seek capability,
The Questioner:
وَأسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ
and by Your Power I seek capability,
The Shaykh:
وَأسْألُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ العَظِيمِ
and I ask of you of your great favour,
The Questioner:
وَأسْألُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ العَظِيمِ
and I ask of you of your great favour,
The Shaykh:
فإنك تَعْلَمُ وَلا أعْلَمُ
and You know and I do not,
The Questioner:
( فإنك تعلم )
‘and You know’ yes O Shaykh.
The Shaykh:
وَلا أعْلَمُ وأنْتَ علاَّمُ الغُيُوبِ
‘and I do not, and You are the One who knows the unseen.’
The Questioner:
وَلا أعْلَمُ وأنْتَ علاَّمُ الغُيُوبِ
and I do not, and You are the One who knows the unseen.

اللَّهُم إنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ
O Allaah if You know
The Questioner:
اللَّهُم إنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ

The Shaykh:
أنَّ هذَا الأمْرَ
that this matter
The Shaykh: Then here we mention the matter which we are seeking from our Lord. for example travel, or marriage, or being a partner in a business, any matter.
The Questioner: Do you mean in place of the word ‘matter’ O Shaykh.’
The Shaykh: Instead of the word ‘matter’. You mention the matter, for example being a partner in a business, or marriage, or travel.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي
O Allaah if You know that this matter is good for me.’
The Questioner:
خَيْرٌ لِي
‘is good for me.’
The Shaykh:
فِي دِينِي
‘For my religion’
The Questioner:
فِي دِينِي
‘For my religion’
The Shaykh:
ومَعَاشِي
for my living
The Questioner:
ومَعَاشِي

وَعَاقِبَةِ أمْرِي
and for the matters of my Hereafter

عَاجِلِهِ

The Hadeeth
Jabir bin Abdullaah –RadhiAllaahu anhu- said the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– used to teach us al-Istikharah (a prayer said for seeking blessings in carrying out a decision) for all matters, just like he used to teach us a chapter from the Qur’aan, he would say: If any of you intends to undertake a matter then he should pray two Rakah other than an obligatory prayer then he should say
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ ، وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي أَوْ قَالَ عَاجِلِ أَمْرِي وَآجِلِهِ فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي أَوْ قَالَ فِي عَاجِلِ أَمْرِي وَآجِلِهِ فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ
O Allaah I request of You with Your knowledge, and by Your Power I seek capability, and I ask of you of your great favour, since indeed You are the One who is able while I am not, and You know and I do not, and You are the One who knows the unseen. O Allaah if You know that this matter – here he mentions his need – is good for me in this world and for my living and for the matters of my Hereafter – or he said, for my affairs now and the future – then decree it for me and make it easy for me and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is evil for me in this world and for my life and for the matters of my Hereafter – or he said, for my affairs now and the affairs of my future – then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree goodness for me where ever it may be and make me pleased with it.

الشيخ : الدعاء وارد عن الرسول عليه السلام ، ما تحفظه ؟
نعم يا شيخ
الشيخ : الدعاء وارد عن الرسول عليه السلام ، ما تحفظه ؟
السائل : والله يا شيخ أنا جالس مع إخواني وطلبوا مني يعني كيف الاستخارة .
الشيخ : الاستخارة عبارة عن
السائل : ركعتين
الشيخ : ركعتين ، يصليهما المصلي المستخير
السائل : باطمئنان وخشوع
الشيخ : باطمئنان وخشوع وإقبال بقلبه على الله عز وجل *ثم بعد السلام يدعو بدعاء الرسول kعليه السلام* :
( اللهم إني أستخيرك بعلمك )
السائل : ( اللهم إني )
الشيخ : ( إني أستخيرك بعلمك )
السائل : ( بعلمك )
الشيخ : ( وأستقدرك بقدرتك )
السائل : ( وأستقدرك بقدرتك )
الشيخ : ( وأسألك من فضلك العظيم )
السائل : ( وأسألك من فضلك العظيم )
الشيخ : نعم ، ( فإنك تعلم ولا أعلم )
السائل : ( فإنك تعلم ) نعم يا شيخ
الشيخ : ( ولا أعلم وأنت علام الغيوب )
السائل : ( ولا أعلم وأنت علام الغيوب )
الشيخ : ( اللهم إن كنت تعلم )
السائل : ( اللهم إن كنت تعلم )
الشيخ : ( أن هذا الأمر )
السائل : ( أن هذا الأمر ) . بين هلالين تحط بدل الأمر الشيء الذي تريد تفعله مثلا هو السفر هو الزواج هو الشراكة أي شيء .
السائل : بين القوسين الأمور التي تريد أن تستخير ربنا فيها .
الشيخ : بدل كلمة الأمر .
السائل : بدل كلمة الأمر يا شيخ
الشيخ : تقول كلمة الأمر تحط مثلًا الشراكة أو الزواج أو السفر ، ( اللهم إن كنت تعلم أن هذا الأمر
