Al-Hafidh Ibn Katheer said:
ﺃﻫﻞ ﺍﻟﺴﻨﺔ ﻭﺍﻟﺠﻤﺎﻋﺔ ﻳﻘﻮﻟﻮﻥ ﻓﻲ ﻛﻞ ﻓﻌﻞ ﻭﻗﻮﻝ ﻟﻢ ﻳﺜﺒﺖ ﻋﻦ ﺍﻟﺼﺤﺎﺑﺔ :ﻫﻮ ﺑﺪﻋﺔ ﻷﻧﻪ ﻟﻮ ﻛﺎﻥ ﺧﻴﺮﺍ ﻟﺴﺒﻘﻮﻧﺎ ﺇﻟﻴﻪ !!
‘Ahl ul Sunnah wal Jammah state that every action and statement not established by the Companions is a Bida’ because if it had been good they would have preceded us in it!!’

Sahal bin Abdullaah at-Tustaree said:
“ما أحدث أحدٌ في العلم شيئاً إلا سُئل عنه يوم القيامة فإن وافق السُنة سَلِم وإلا: فلا “
‘No body innovated anything into knowledge except that he will be questioned about it on the day of Judgement, if he was in agreement with the Sunnah then he is secure otherwise he will not be secure.’

قال ابن كثير:
“وأما أهل السنة والجماعة فيقولون:
في كل فعل وقول لم يثبت عن الصحابة هو بدعة لأنه لوكان خيرا لسبقونا إليه”
تفسيرابن كثير ١٩٠/٤
قال سَهل التستري رحمه الله
