Shaykh Abdullaah bin Humayd (d. 1402 A.H.) -Rahimahullaah quoted the hadeeth:
قال الرسول ﷺ: « لتتبعن سنن من كان قبلكم »
The Messenger ﷺ said:
« *لتتبعن سنن من كان قبلكم* »
‘Surely you will definitely follow the ways of those before you.’
A meeting between Shaykh Abdullaah bin Humayd -Rahimahullaah & the Mufti of Turkey
Then Shaykh Abdullaah said:
‘From the ways of those before us was that they said, that Isa (Jesus) is Allaah, or that he is the son of Allaah, or the third of the three. So is there anyone in this Ummah who says that indeed the Messenger ﷺ is likewise?
We say, yes there are people in Turkey who say, ‘Indeed the Messenger ﷺ is made from Noor from Allaah, and is a part of Allaah and is not human.’
During one of the previous years we gathered with the Mufti of Turkey and along with Him was the prime minister’s brother whose name was Sulayman.
He did not speak Arabic very well and had a translator with him. He asked about issues of Hajj in relation to the Hanafi Madhab and I answered those.
Then he moved on and asked about the Messenger ﷺ , he said, ‘what is your opinion about Muhammad?’
I was surprised by this question, so I asked in which way?
He said, ‘Is he human?’
I answered: ‘Yes, he is a human.’ – I said this calmly so I could know what he thought – then I quoted some Ayat to him, like:
{ قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ }
《Say: “I am only a man like you. 》[Kahf:110] etc.
He said: ‘This is the Prophet lowering himself from his humbleness, in fact he came in the form of a human so that he can resemble those who he was calling from the humans. This is because if he resembled them then that would be more appropriate for them to accept his Dawa, therefore, he was not human.’
I said: What does the Mufti (of Turkey) say?’
He answered: ‘He was a part of Allaah!!’
This is what the Christians say exactly the same, however, in this type of discussion the Qur’aan and Sunnah is not used as proof, nothing can be used with this type of person except intellectual proofs.
I repeated (shocked): ‘Muhammad is a part of Allaah?!!
He replied ‘Yes.’
I asked: ‘Is Muhammad ﷺ present or deceased?’
He answered: ‘No, he is not present, in fact he died, because Allaah said:
إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ
《 Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die and verily, they (too) will die. 》[Zumar: 30]
I said: if Muhammad ﷺ died and he was a part of Allaah then your Lord would be paralysed, because a part of him had died.’
He remained silent, then said: ‘You have made me fall into confusion, may Allaah be sufficient for me against you.’
He was not able to answer. This is their situation, and this is the truthfulness of what the Messenger ﷺ said, surely you will definitely follow the ways of those before you.’

*قصة عجيبة يحكيها العلامة ابن حميد رحمه الله مع مفتي تركيا*
*قال الشيخ عبدالله ابن حميد – رحمه الله – :*
قال الرسول ﷺ: « *لتتبعن سنن من كان قبلكم* » ، ومن سنن من قبلنا أن قالوا: إن عيسى هو الله ، أو ابن الله ، أو ثالث ثلاثة ، فهل وُجِد في هذه الأمة من قال: إن الرسول ﷺ كذلك؟
نقول: نعم ، وُجِد في تركيا أُناسٌ يقولون: « إن الرسول ﷺ نور من الله وجزء من الله ، وليس بشرا » ، ففي إحدى السنوات الماضية اجتمعنا بمفتي تركيا ، وكان معه أخو رئيس الوزراء واسمه: (سليمان) ، وكان لا يجيد العربية و معه مترجم ، وسأل عن مسائل في الحج تتعلق بمذهب الحنفية وأُجيب عنها ، ثم انتقل فسأل عن الرسول ﷺ ، فقال: ما رأيك بمحمد؟
فاستغربت هذا السؤال ، وقلت: من أي ناحية؟
قال: هل هو بشر؟
قلت: نعم ، بشر – بهدوء حتى أعرف ما عنده – ، وسقت له الآيات: { قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ } [ الكهف : ١١٠ ] ونحوها.
فقال: هذا تنزل منه وتواضع ، وإنما جاء على صورة بشر لأجل أن يكون مشاكلا للمدعوين من البشر ؛ فإنه إذا شاكلهم صار ذلك أحرى لقبول دعوته ، وإلا فهو ليس ببشر.
قلت: ما يقول المفتي؟
فقال: إنه جزء من الله!
كما قالت النصارى سواء بسواء ، لكن مثل هذا لا يُحتجُّ عليه بالقرآن والسنة ، هذا لا يصلح معه إلا الحجج العقلية.
قلت: ( محمد ) جزء من الله؟!
فقال: نعم.
قلت: هل محمد ﷺ موجود أو توفي؟
فقال: لا ، ليس بموجود ، بل مات ؛ لأن الله يقول: { إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ } [ الزمر : ٣٠ ].
قلت: إذا كان محمد ﷺ مات وهو جزء من الله فيكون الرب مشلولا حينئذ! ؛ لأن جزءاً منه مات.
فبقي ساكتا ، ثم قال: أوقعتني في حيرة ، حسبي الله عليك.
لم يستطع الجواب ، هذا شأنهم ، وهذا مصداق ما قاله الرسول ﷺ لتتبعن سَنَنَ من كان قبلكم.
