28 – 1484 – From Anas bin Malik who said: The Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-was asked ‘What is al-Kawther  ?’

He answered:

‘That is a river which Allaah has given me – in Paradise – it is whiter than milk, sweeter than honey, it has birds in it, whose necks are like the necks of large animals.’

Umar said: ‘Indeed these are ostriches.’

The Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-said:

‘I ate it and its meat was even softer than it.’

29 – 1486 – From AbdulAziz bin al-Mukhtar bin Abdullaah ad-Danaaj who said he witnessed Abu Salmah bin AbdurRahman sitting in a Masjid at the time of Khalid bin Usayd; He said al-Hasan came and sat with him, and Abu Salmah narrated to us that Abu Hurairah narrated from the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-who said:

‘The sun and the moon will both spin and erupt in the Hell-Fire on the Day of Judgement.’

So al-Hasan asked: ‘What was the sin of the sun and the moon?!’

Abu Salmah said: ‘Rather what I do is narrate to you from the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-.’

So al-Hasan remained silent.’

30 – 1487 – From Abu Hassaan who said I said to Abu Hurairah: ‘Two of my sons have just died, will you not narrate to me a hadeeth from the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-to make our souls feel better about our deceased?’

He said: ‘Yes,’ the Messenger said:

‘Their young ones [the deceased] are the young of Paradise one of them will meet his father – or he said: his parents – and he will hold on to his garment – or he said: his hand, just like I am taking a hold the hem of your garment.

The child will not stop holding – or he said: he will not stop – until Allaah enters the child and the parent into Paradise.’

31 – 1520 – From al-Hasan who said: ‘An old woman came to the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- and said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah! Supplicate to Allaah that He may enter me into Paradise.’

The Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-said:

‘O mother of so and so! Indeed old women will not enter Paradise.’

So she went away crying.

Then the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘Inform her that she will not enter Paradise as an old woman, indeed Allaah –Ta’ala- says: << Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. And made them virgins. Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. >> [al-Waqi’ah: 35-37]

32 – 1493 – From Abu Hurairah who said: the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-said:

‘Every one of the people of the Hell-Fire will see his seat in Paradise and he will say: ‘If only Allaah had guided me.’ then this will be grief and regret upon them.

Everyone of the people of Paradise will see his seat in the Hell-Fire and he will say: ‘If Allaah had not guided me.’ So he will be thankful for that, then the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-recited: <<Lest a person should say: Alas, my grief that I was undutiful to Allaah (i.e. I have not done what Allaah has ordered me to do)>> [Zumar: 56]

33 – 1494 – From Ali bin Khalid who said: Abu Umamah al-Bahily passed by Khalid bin Yazeed bin Muwaweeyah and he asked him about the most gentle statement that he had heard from the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-, so he said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-saying:

‘All of you will enter Paradise, except for the one who runs away from Allaah, just like a camel runs away from its owner.’

From Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri who said: the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘I swear by Him in whose Hand is my soul, indeed all of you will surely enter Paradise, except the one who refuses to enter, and he runs away from Allaah like a camel runs away.’

They asked: ‘And who would refuse to enter Paradise?’

So the Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘Whoever obeys me enters Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused to enter.’

34 – 1497 – From Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqas Radi Allaahu anhu from the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-who said:

‘If there appeared what was less than a finger nail of what is in Paradise then it would beautify all corners of the heavens and the earth.  And if a man from Paradise appeared and his bracelets were shown, then they would smother/cover the light of the sun just like the sun smothers/covers the light of the stars.’

35 – 1498 – From Abu Hurairah who said: the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-said:

‘If there were a hundred thousand people in this Masjid or many more, and there was a man from the people of Hell-Fire and he breathed out then they would be afflicted by his breath and the Masjid would have burnt down with those with in the Masjid.’

36 – 1499 – Shuraih bin Ubayd said: Thowban became sick in a place called Himss.  Abdullaah bin Qartt al-Azdi was the governor of that place but did not visit Thowban.  A man from al-Kala’iyeen came to visit Thowban, so Thowban asked him: ‘Do you know how to write?’

He answered: ‘Yes.’

Thowban said: ‘Write.’

So he wrote to the governor Abdullaah bin Qartt, from Thowban the freed slave of the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-, to proceed:

‘Indeed if the freed slave of Musa or Isa was here in your presence you would have visited him.’

Then he rolled up the letter and Thowban said to him will you be able to take this to him?

The man answered: ‘Yes.’

So off went the man with the letter and gave it to Ibn Qartt.  When he read it he suddenly stood up, the people began saying: ‘What’s wrong with him? Has something happened?’

Abdullaah ibn Qartt came to Thowban to visit him, he entered and sat with him for an hour, then he stood to leave, so Thowban took a hold of his garment and said: ‘Sit, until I narrate to you a hadeeth which I heard from the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-, I heard him say:

‘Indeed there will surely enter Paradise seventy thousand from my Ummah, they will not be taken to account, nor will they receive a punishment, and every one thousand of them will have seventy thousand with him.’
