If you find a small amount of money on the floor

Shaykh Muhammad Nasir uddeen al-Albaani was asked
‘If I find on the pavement a small amount of money or anything else, a small amount which is not valuable, what should I do with it?
The Shaykh Rahimahullaah replied:
‘If it is as you have mentioned and the person who found it was a poor person then he is foremost to have it than any other poor person. If he is a rich person then he should give it in charity to who he knows to be poor.’

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen Rahimuhullaah said:
‘If a person finds lost money or jewellery then he needs to check:
▪ If it is something little which the people do not pay attention to:
If a person lost it then it becomes for the person who found it. He does not need to go searching for the owner. However, if he knows whose it is then it is obligatory upon him to return it to him.
An example for this is: a person finds five riyals, people do not see importance to five riyals nor do they search for it if they lose it nowadays.
This is because provisions have become plentiful -and Praise belongs to Allaah- there is a lot of goodness. However, if you know who this five riyals belongs to then it becomes obligatory to pay him whether he requested you or did not.
▪ If what you found is from that which the people have a concern for and they search for it, here it is obligatory upon you to search for its owner for a whole year.’

من وجد مالًا زهيدًا في الطريق ما
*ماذا يعمل به ؟*
•سئل الشيخ الألباني -رحمه الله- :
يسأل السائل يقول :إذا وجدت على قارعة الطريق شيئا من المال أو غيره وكان قليلا تافها ليس ذا قيمة . فماذا أفعل به ؟
الشيخ : إن كان كما ذكرت وكان الملتقط فقيرا فهو أولى بها من غيره من الفقراء ، وإن كان غنيا فيتصدق به على من يعرفه فقيرا .

• الشيخ ابن عثيمين -رحمه الله- :
إذا وجد الإنسان لقطة من دراهم أو حلي فينظر :
• إذا كانت شيء يسيراً لا يهتم به الناس : إذا ضاعت منهم فإنها له ولا يحتاج أن يبحث عن صاحبها، لكن إن علمه وجب عليه أن يعيدها إليه
مثال لذلك : وجد إنسان خمسة ريالات ، وخمسة ريالات لا يهتم بها الناس ولا يبحثون عنها في وقتنا هذا إذا ضاعت؛ لان الأمور ولله الحمد وافرة والخير كثير
لكن إذا علمت صاحب هذه الخمسة فيجب أن تدفعها له سواء طلبها منك أو لم يطلبها
• أما إذا كان الذي وجدته مما يهتم الناس به ويبحثون عنه فإن الواجب عليك أن تبحث عن صاحبه سنة كاملة .
