Ibn Saba the Jew said to the khawarij
ابدؤوا بالطعن في أمرائكم وأظهروا الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر
تستميلوا الناس وادعوهم إلى هذا الأمر
‘Begin with criticism and defaming your leaders
and make it appear as if you are enjoining the good and forbidding evil to win the people over and invite them to this cause.’
