Imam Ibn al-Qayyim – Rahimahullaah said:
From the types of major Shirk :
Seeking Needs from the Dead,
Seeking aid from them and turning to them this is the origin of Shirk in the world, because the deeds of the deceased has been discontinued.
He does not possess the ability to harm or bring around benefit more so than the one from whom he seeks aid, and asking him for the fulfilment of his needs, or asking him to intercede with Allaah for his need.
This illustrates his ignorance of the one who is asking for intercession and the one from whom he’s asking intercession.

📌 قال الإمام ابن القيم -رحمه الله- :
«ومن أنواعه [ الشرك الأكبر ]
▪️ طلب الحوائج من الموتى
▪️ والاستغاثة بهم
▪️ والتوجه إليهم
وهذا أصل شرك العالم، فإن الميت قد انقطع عمله، وهو لا يملك لنفسه ضرًّا ولا نفعاً، فضلاً عمن استغاث به، وسأله قضاء حاجته، أو سأله أن يشفع له إلى الله فيها، وهذا من جهله بالشافع والمشفوع له عنده».
