Abu Ya’ala al-Khaleeli said:
‘He is thiqa ((trustworthy), a senior, agreed upon and used as evidence. He has knowledge of Hadeeth and memorising. Ibn Majah has collections of books categorising Hadeeth in the Sunnan, Tafseer, Tareekh (history) and he is knowledgeable of this science.’

Shaykh Khalid ar-Raddadi -Rahimahullaah said:
‘The author did not mention in his book nor was it conveyed from him anything about the reason for collecting ‘Sunnan Ibn Majah’.
It appears that he collected this due to the desire in gathering the Sunnan and Ahadeeth of Rulings as was the practice of the scholars at his time, and Allaah knows best.’
